The National Opera and Ballet Theatre is famous for many years and it's always recommended as a “Must see” destination in Minsk. The history of the Belarus opera and ballet begins in May 1933. In that period it was a part of the National Drama theatre. The Fist performances were Eugeny Onegin, Carmen and the Queen of Spades. In 1939 the construction of the Opera and Ballet Theatre building was finished on the Trinity Hill (current location). During the World War 2 (1941-1945) Belarus was occupied by Nazi troops. Minsk was turned into ruins. The artists of the theater went to the front or joined the guerrilla movement. Many artists performed on the front for the soldiers of the Soviet Army.
Today the performances are held almost each evening. The prices for the tickets are more than reasonable – 5-20 USD at the average. Keep in mind that the theatre is full every day and it's better to get the tickets in advance. We’ll be glad to provide the information about the performances at the Opera and Ballet Theatre in Minsk and book tickets. Moreover you could rent one of Minsk apartments right next to the theatre!
