The problem to rent a good flat for a long term at reasonable prices in Minsk is really hot-burning nowadays. Especially for ordinary Belorussians, whose average salary is nearly 500 USD a month (according to the statistics).
Some people claim that it is not a problem to rent a good flat in Minsk for 200 USD a month. The real estate specialists have calculated that the cost of rent should not be more than 20% of the monthly income of the person. In Minsk this sum is something like $100. But what do we have in reality?
In those flats, which cost less than $200, the living conditions are really poor. The only furniture in such apartments is a wooden bed, a table, a chair and, if you are really lucky, a wardrobe. Not mentioning the location of the apartment which surely will be inconvenient. More or less modern apartments are offered for 350 USD / month or more. It may go up to 2000-3000 USD / month for a luxury long term apartment in the very center.
It turns out, that it is actually possible to rent a flat for $200 a month, but your life in it will turn into survival. So, stories about good and very cheap apartments in Minsk, unfortunately, are just myths.
